Camp Stoney has been a program for the youth of the Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande for more than 50 years. In 2017 we celebrated the Golden Anniversary of this remarkable camp.
Many of our summer camp programs have taken place at Bishop's Ridge / Camp & Recreation Center in northern New Mexico. Situated on the historic Old Santa Fe Trail, it sits only 25 minutes from the Santa Fe Plaza and 45 minutes from the Santa Fe Ski Basin. From there, some of our camps offer day adventures nearby. This location offers both the serenity of rugged wilderness and the modern conveniences of the city.
Other Camp Stoney programs take place around the Diocese of the Rio Grande, throughout the state of New Mexico and western Texas.
The Diocese of the Rio Grande was formed in 1952 by the General Convention of The Episcopal Church from the Missionary District of New Mexico and Southwest Texas.
The Diocese encompasses 154,000 square miles of the State of New Mexico and Far West Texas from the Pecos River to the border with Mexico along the Rio Grande.
The Rt. Rev. Michael Buerkel Hunn was elected Bishop of the Diocese of the Rio Grande on May 5, 2018. He was ordained and consecrated Bishop on November 3, 2018, and serves as chief pastor for the 15,000 members of the congregations of the Diocese.
